So you finally got a studio for rent San Francisco and started living a peaceful solo life in it. But then on some random day, you suddenly find out that your apartment has been attacked by molds. In this situation, you may find panicking the easiest thing to do, but hey, do anything but not that. The presence of molds in an apartment can surely be toxic and needs to be treated as soon as possible. Hence, panicking won’t work here. So what you can do?
Do These 4 Things When You find A Mold In Your Apartment
Make Sure It Is Mold
The first thing that you must understand is if it's actually a mold. You must know that mold is nothing but a fungus that develops when moisture accumulates in dark areas and warm temperatures. These spaces could be windows, bathrooms, roofs, etc. It is typically black or green and is not merely a surface fungus like mildew. If what’s occurred at your apartment looks like that, it surely is mold.
If It Is Mold, Find Out How Big Is The Problem
To get rid of a low-level mold species, spray some white vinegar directly on the areas and let it sit for an hour. Do not bleach it as this will not work to cure the mold fungus inside the surface.
Contact Your Landlord
If you think that the molds are caused due to your lengthy door-shut showers, but you have conquered the war, there is no need to contact the landlord. But if these are caused because of the leaky pipes or other reasons that you can’t change, contact your landlord asap. Also, remember that molds can grow again if they find the apt moisture around. If something like that happens again, explain to your landlord that it’s a big problem.
Work Together & Find the Source
Surely you’ll have a supportive landlord. Work with him to find the cause and source of the mold, if that is causing due to pipe leakages or other waterproofing problems. Timely measures can prevent you from facing lung issues in the future.
You Know What To Do
It doesn’t matter how big or small an apartment is or how high or low the average apartment rent in San Francisco is, a mold will fetch wherever there will be untreated moisture and waterproofing. Hence, make sure to scan your whole apartment when you find even a single mold appearance.
